Peter Gray joined Clyde & Co in February 2010 and is a highly experienced lawyer who is recognised as one of the leading figures in international projects and energy.
He has over 20 years’ experience in this field and has been extensively involved in advising lenders, consortia and project companies involved in the construction, financing and operation of projects in Africa, continental Europe, the FSU, the Middle East, the Indian sub-continent, Australia, the Far East as well as the UK.
Peter has personally advised on groundbreaking projects such as the SADAF Jubail combined heat & power project (the first internationally financed Saudi power project), the Chad Cameroon pipeline project (the largest sub-Saharan project financing), the Azerbaijan Early Oil Project (the first oil financing in the Caspian Sea), the Atomic Weapons Establishment PPP and Eurotunnel.
More recently, he has advised on a power project in Eastern Europe, a minerals mine project in the Middle East and several substantial property financings in the UK.
He has also advised borrowers, sponsors and lenders on a wide range of PFI/PPP and LIFT transactions in the UK, including the Young Herts childrens’ care centre and SW Hants LIFT.
Peter's previous experience includes advising on major listed M&A transactions, on Stock Exchange introductions, offers for sale and rights issues and on listed and unlisted debt and equity-linked capital markets transactions. He has worked in Kenya (for the Government of Kenya), in Hong Kong and in Tokyo, where he was head of the office of a major English law firm.
Peter is familiar with French, Japanese and Kiswahili.
Since 2003, he has been a member of the Advisory Board to the PPP Arbiter, who has responsibility for dealing with disputes concerning the financial terms of the PPP Agreements, by which the maintenance, renewal and upgrading of the London Underground was transferred into the private sector.
